A beautifully detailed vintage Japanese wooden jinrikisha, or rickshaw, hand carved with a wonderful sense of movement and character.
The jinrikisha became one of the most recognisable forms of Japanese passenger transport from the late 19th century onwards, and miniature examples became popular decorative and souvenir pieces. This example has been gently cared for at Gladstone Studios while retaining its age and surface character.
