A wonderfully characterful pair of vintage wooden ratchet rattle, or clacker, with a bright red painted body and turned wooden handle.
Designed to create a loud clicking noise when swung or rotated, rattles like this were commonly used at sporting events and other public gatherings. The simple wooden construction and bold red finish give this example a particularly appealing folk-made quality.
